what is this FILM about

In 2019, I made a film called Green about this same subject. In the time since, I felt the question surrounding it had evolved from does a guy like this get to come back? (uh…duh) to how do we live and create in the same world as someone like him? Gold is an exploration of this question.

who are you

Kylie Murphy (she/her) is a filmmaker with a focus in comedy. She graduated from NYU Tisch Film & TV, where her short Green won the Canon Filmmaker Award for Best Undergraduate Film at the Fusion Film Festival. Her work has been featured on The AV Club, No Film School, and The Black List. She approaches film with a DIY spirit, often writing, directing, producing, editing, and shooting her projects. Kylie currently works as a freelance editor.

and why do you Want my money

Let’s face it, eggs are expensive. For a film which builds to an emotional climax where the two lead characters throw no less than 600 eggs at each other (each!), that sure adds up. It adds up quick.*

This film was originally supposed to shoot in April 2020, ever heard of it? It is my (I’m breaking the website fourth wall here) thesis film at NYU. Ever heard of that?!?

What was once a crew of scrappy little nobody students is now comprised of early-career professionals. Much like eggs and Ben Affleck’s family plan with Verizon Wireless, this film costs a lot more in 2023 than it would have in 2020.

*my producers are begging me to clarify that this is a joke

YEAH SO WHERE CAN I DONATE ?

what do i get

  • I am so thankful to you and I want the whole dang world to know it! You'll be included in the credits in the Special Thanks section, right before the post-credits scene with Spiderman.

  • I will name a star after you but I won't tell you which one it is and you can never ask.

  • A thank you note with a Weekend Update-style joke about the topical subject of my choosing for you.

  • A thank you note that honey roasts you with 5 blistering compliments about your stunning self.

  • I will draw a picture of you as a standup comic with what I think your material would be.

  • No one knows what an Associate Producer is. Truly, no one. I’ve asked. This is your chance to define what Associate Producing means for a generation of filmmakers.

  • An executive producer credit on the film in exchange for your money. Ashton Kutcher is an executive producer on 25 projects. No pressure, but this might be your only chance to have something in common with Ashton Kutcher.
